Apostle Susan Powers opened the service with a lengthy excerpt from Give Him 15: An Appeal to Heaven Devotional, Volume II by Dutch Sheets, Day 9: “You were born to dream.” The Word for this year from the Lord is still DREAM. Never stop dreaming!
If you are interested in the devotional, it can be found here: Give Him 15
Andrea Colyer led worship.
During worship, Apostle Susan Powers had the following Word from the Lord:
I hear the Lord saying “so let go. You say you’re desperate for Me, so let go. Let go of control. Let go of the need to be in control. My way is better. You think you’re doing something for Me, but you;re leaving Me behind, so let go. Just breathe, just breathe.”
A time of ministry on the altar followed.

Bible story: Zaccheaus
Verse: 1 John 1:9
Message: Expectations
The message this week was based on Genesis 4:1-10.
Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”[d] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.
The message was a family discussion over these verses in regards to expectations. What were Eve’s expectations? What were Cain’s? What were Abel’s? The congregation participated as a group, and the discussion can be found at the service link above.
Some takeaways:
Cain had choices, and some things please God and some things don’t please God…and we don’t get the things of God without God Himself
Eve had expectations of her offspring in relation to the curse and the promises
Abel’s expectations and choices vs Cain’s expectations and choices
What was expected of Cain, and how did that impact him?
Cain: name means “acquisition”
Abel: name means “mist or vapor”
What do these names reveal about the expectations on and of these men?
Some things have favor and some things do not, and people have different favor. How does that favor meet our expectations?
What expectations do we put on others? Or on our own offspring?
What are you going to do about Jesus?
Fellowship with God vs covenant with God - how are these impacted by our own choices?
