Kandy Spangler opened with a testimony about attending an AA meeting in support of a friend. It was an encouraging time of seeing so many people receive their 8 month coins, 9 month coins, and more. She was among real life miracles. At the end they had a large circle of prayer. It was cold and snowy, but over 100 people came out to the meeting. It was an encouraging testimony as well as a reminder to pray for people in their struggles.
Andrea Colyer led worship.

Week 1 - Prayers
Verse: Philippians 4:6
Bible Story: Daniel in the Lion’s Den
Message: Pastor Jeff Spangler
Last week we discussed the parable of building on the rock. We, too, need to build on the rock - build on those things that cannot be eroded. In the parable, both houses were built well…”until” the storms came. The one on the sand wasn’t a shanty, it was a well built house. But over time, things can erode in sand. Sometimes it’s not a suddenly, it’s an erosion over time.
We see it in our culture today - an erosion of morality. Of honor and honoring others.
Both builders of houses had an expectation, but it’s what they anchored the expectation on that stood the test of time.
This week is part 2 of Building Expectations: what do you anchor your expectation in? What do you believe will happen? In the end times, many will fall away. There will be storms that come that erode away. “Did God really say…” Even those who literally walked with God started to question what God said. Don’t think it won’t happen to you!
Apostle George shared something with Pastor Jeff. A challenge Pastor wants to pass on to us: Who will stand in the gap now in your circle? Who is it who will ensure the sheep know the voice of the Shepherd?
What’s your circle? Your family? Your place of business? Your friends? Whatever it is, we are often looking for something else or someone else to effect change, and God is saying: “It’s you!”
We start to think of all the reasons that can’t be…but God is looking throughout the earth for someone to say “I will go.”
In the early days of Pastor Jeff being called as Men’s Pastor, then-Pastor George had some words of advice as a mentor, and Pastor Jeff is now passing these on to us:
Always have some money in your wallet.
Always have some oil in your pocket. (Anointing oil.)
Never go to bed with at least a quarter tank of gas in your vehicle.
In other words: BE PREPARED.
FOR OTHERS.
You never know when there will be a need.
Always have some money in your wallet.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
As a pastor, he was to be ready to give. You have to make a decision at some point to serve money or serve God. That can apply to giving money away…and giving money away rightly because sometimes we make it about ourselves.
Matthew 7:11
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Be ready to meet the need. God will always meet your needs - build your expectation and anticipation.
Always make sure you have cash in hand…not just about meeting the need, but making connections. Discern in the Spirit what the need really is.
Be ready to meet the need.
Make a connection with people.
Give generously.
What this really comes down to is: Be relational. Build expectation on the foundation of Jesus Christ in being relational. Consider OTHERS. Trust that the Lord has something for them that you need to give - start the day intentionally, knowing that it is all God’s.
It’s not about the money. It’s about hearing the Words spoken and asking “What does that mean to me?” What’s the currency God is asking you to carry every day? What is of value that you carry into your circle every day?
Don’t let money dictate your day…let God dictate your day.
Have (anointing) oil on you all the time.
Pastor Jeff has the King’s oil from Apostle George with him at all times. But we don’t have to church it up. It’s not about the oil itself - it’s about your intentionality. What’s your intention? It’s about being intentional in all you do.
Think about the purpose of oil in Scripture - what was Apostle George telling Pastor Jeff to do?
Beyond having money with you, make sure you have some oil with you, because people will identify you as a leader in the Kingdom and come to you.
Mark 6:13
They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
James 5:14
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
The Scriptures say, as an elder and a leader, you will be called on to pray. You will be called on to lead. And the Lord has anointed YOU to bring good news to the people.
Be intentional.
Mark 9:24-29
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”
This kind can only come out by prayer…what does that mean?
The disciples had seen miracles before and had been able to perform them. But not with this guy - it didn’t work. “Help me with my unbelief!”
Carry the oil all the time…if you think the oil is magical, you’ve missed it. It’s not about the oil itself.
For Pastor Jeff, it's about being intentional. It’s about connecting with the person of God over the power of God.
If you want to have something for them, you have to be intentional about connecting with the person of God over the power of God.
Start your days being intentional…seek his face before His hand! Carrying the oil with you helps you remember you want the PRESENCE of God first, and then allow the power of God to transform their life.
So what does this mean to you?
Be intentional with the presence of God over the power of God.
Sn example of this is walking in the blessing of God. Sometimes we let the blessings push God out of our life. Don’t let the blessings of God push God out of our life! Be intentional every day!
Make sure there’s at least a quarter tank of gas in your car when you go to bed.
You never know what will happen. Sometimes someone will hit a cow at 1am and need you.
Remember the story of the ten virgins. Having oil in the lamp.
BE READY.
We’ve moved from get ready to be ready. Apostle George said to Pastor Jeff after that message: “the transition is complete” Pastor Jeff as Senior Pastor.
Matthew 24:42-44
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
We can fear what’s yet to come, but that’s not why He told us this. He wanted us to know: “I'm on my way, I’ll be there soon.” Have a quarter tank of gas…there may be more nights that you don’t need it than when you do. But when it happens, be ready! Be ready in such a way that it’s not about you! Don’t run YOURSELF empty…don’t pour out so much that there is nothing left! Do what you need to have enough to finish the work. Do what you need to in order to be filled up…put your oxygen mask on first SO THAT you can help others.
Build anticipation!
The three things again:
Always have some money in your wallet.
Always have some oil in your pocket. (Anointing oil.)
Never go to bed with at least a quarter tank of gas in your vehicle.
To Pastor Jeff these mean:
Be relational in all that you do.
Be intentional.
Be ready.
Build anticipation!
Someone may need that money in your pocket more than you need it.
Someone may need the presence of God.
Be ready…don’t put yourself in a position where you have nothing left.
Therefore keep watch, do your duty, and be ready.
Keep watch! The enemy roams around and watches for when you are depleted!
Do your duty! Drive the walls! Take your post and be watchful!
“Duty is ours. Results are God’s.” - John Quincy Adams
Stop trying to manifest God into people, just do your duty and trust God for the results!
This book (The Bible) has all the energy you need. Go study these out - to fill your tank! It’ll stick with you for a lifetime!
Someone is depending on YOU to plug in and study these things out.
It is time to have excellent expectations. They need to be founded on the Rock so that we are all ready when the suddenlies come.
