Rachael Gilmore led worship.

During worship, Worship Leader Rachael Gilmore was led to encourage the congregation to come before the Lord to surrender it all and let Him make the dead things come alive!  Song for context:  “I Know a Name.”

Apostle Susan Powers shared the following in prayer:

For in my season of sorrow, you have said to me: “Keep it simple.  Just keep it simple.  Just you and Me.  I’ve got you.”

Prayer Week 2

Bible Story: Moses and the Tent of Meeting

Memory Verse: Philippians 4:6

Message: Pastor Jeff Spangler

“Building Expectation”

We are in a season of resetting new expectations. Everywhere.  It’s time to rethink your vision - what it is that you have.  What we believe about the future may not be built on the foundation of Jesus.  Remember the parable of the houses - both houses were solidly built, but only one could hold up when hard things came.

Maybe Jesus was telling people it may not be the way you think it is.

It’s not a challenge of how to build the house but in how we set expectations - be careful that they are not YOUR expectations and what YOU think should happen.

Today’s message may leave you with more questions than answers - this is for you to study and ponder with God. Because there will come a time when it’s time to move on, and we need to be ready.

John 14:29

I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

Have you ever had God tell you something, and then it happened?  Have you ever had those moments of deja vu?  God wants us to know:  “I AM THE ANSWER.”  He wants us to know now…so when things happen, we trust Him!

Things are coming that will be much different than you have ever conceived.  Example: SpaceX, Elon Musk’s company, is planning to solve the problem of data centers by launching one million satellites into space.  This would solve the data center problem, but it would also give vast, unprecedented power to one man and one company - not only on Earth but also in space. .

So…

  1. One man will have the pass to space.

  2. Satellite phones will replace cell phones. This will connect all phones instantly and perfectly.

  3. If there are a million satellites up there, our view of the night sky will be much different…by man’s hand, not God’s hand.

  4. This may give us a glimpse to how the Scriptures tell us that all will know and see when Jesus comes back.

(See this article: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cyv5l24mrjmo)

It’s never going back to the way it was.

Jesus is telling us what’s happening, so when it happens, we trust Him.  It’s going to get worse than we think it is.  Because many will not move or change until the pain of staying the same rises past the pain of change.

So it’s time for us to build good expectations. Not just  for us - but for all our sheep pens. Apostle George stood in the gap for us and for others.  And now we must do the same for others.  We don’t have to be fearful for the things to come - but we can prepare our hearts and our sheep pens because WE KNOW JESUS, and we can replace fear with faith.

If you let fear drive, it will lead to you to the very thing you are afraid of.

BUILD. GOOD. EXPECTATIONS.  DON’T LET FEAR DRIVE THE BUS.

Fear takes you to the thing you are afraid of.  Faith takes you to the feet of Christ.  And we’re going to find out what we really believe.

When God gives revelation, He also has the protection for you in it.  But if you don’t step up into that revelation, the enemy will grab it and take your spot.  Who is it that needs freedom in your sheep pen that you’re too afraid to step into?

It’s not about you!  You’re the son that stayed with the Father - you have all access to the Father!  He’s already provided for you - what about THEM?!

Last week Pastor gave us three things Apostle George told him…you are going to need to know what these three things mean to YOU.

What’s your expectation?

Matthew 25:1-13

(See also Luke 13 - it’s a similar parable, but it’s about the servants)

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

In the culture: it was the job of these women to light the way for the bridegroom. The bridegroom was held up, and he couldn't go get his bride before the debt between the two families was settled.  (The Father is waiting for as many as possible to make the choice.)

Some points to ponder…

  1. This Scripture is in Matthew.

Matthew, in compiling his gospel, wrote about the Kingship of Jesus. So how does this story fit into the Kingdom of God?  In each season we have a theme.  You have a theme.

  1. Ten women go with lit lamps.  Their purpose is to meet the bridegroom.

The bridegroom was held up, and he couldn't go get his bride before the debt between the two families was settled.  (The Father is waiting for as many as possible to make the choice.)

  1. Ten women, two groups: 5 with oil, 5 without.

There were those that brought oil - they were prepared.  So why did some take the jar with them?  When they woke up, those that had the oil were ready.  What sets these two groups apart from each other - the extra oil.  This is the time - check your expectations!  Do you have your oil ready?

  1. All ten women fell asleep.

Is Jesus saying this to the Church across the globe?  You’re drowsy and you’re falling asleep!  (Much like the disciples who fell asleep in Gethsemane.)

  1. When they awakened, they trimmed their wicks, and all their lamps had gone out…but five of them were prepared for it and had oil ready.

For some reason they couldn’t or wouldn’t share, so five of them had to leave to go get more oil.

THEY LEFT.

Is there something God called you to that you left?

Is there something He’s called you to now that you want to leave?

Have you left something?

*****

This church is different than it was.  Build expectations like the wise virgins that not only took the lamp but also took the oil with them.  What is that oil?   The vessel is worthless without the oil.   So what is the oil?  (This is a question for YOU to study!)

Have oil in your lamp to be ready…whatever God says that means to you. To be ready means to be relational and intentional.  You have a lit lamp right now - but you have to DEVELOP this Word

There are things coming that we can’t control and stop or even be prepared enough for…but we can have our oil.  It’s not someone else’s responsibility, it’s ours.  There will come a time when you have to ask God: “What kind of oil do I need?”  He’ll tell you!

Check your expectations because that which you are filling your map with is going to  fail you if it’s not Jesus. Or maybe it has nothing to do with you but it’s those in your circle that left.

There are many in the end times that will fall away from the truth.  “God, don’t let my sheep be those that fall away.”  There WILL be an account for what He gave you.

This is about the KINGDOM.

We must help others be ready.

We must help others be dependent on Jesus.

Don’t build expectations on yourself - what if you’re not there that day?  If you’re not in your gap, are they ready?  What is that container of oil?  How do I know what they need to trim their lamp?

There will come those that knock on the door and they don't know Jesus.

As King.

As man.

As servant.

As God.

We have had the opportunity to know all four.  But we have to ask the questions and get the extra oil.  Our expectations matter.

If you let faith guide you…see what he said.  I missed it.

Apostle Lisa gave this body a Word a few years back: “you are lavers and lampstands.”

Are you a laver or a lampstand?

Laver:

The laver was full of water, its purpose was to cleanse and wash.  These were all over the temple area.  Some of us are called to contain the water that will help others get clean.  What’s a useless laver?  An empty laver.  One with no water. So when the bridegroom comes, let you be found FULL of water.  Don’t be just a bowl.

Lampstand:

What’s the point of the lampstand?  It holds the oil and the lamp.  A lampstand without a lamp is just a stick, and a lamp without the oil is worthless.  If you're a lampstand you will be one of those who holds the light and the extra oil.

Wake up, you’ve gotten drowsy.  He’s coming.  Trim your lamp, get your water.
